[ nana's stomach drops as her phone alerts her to a new notification.
it's fine, right? everything's fine. it's fine, but she can't shake the strange feeling she gets from reira's presence.
but nana reads the message, and she glances behind her toward their bedroom (by proxy, given she was the only one primarily in it), then back to her lunch. her appetite suddenly evaporated. ]
no. he left earlier this morning. he said something about more work that he had to do. why?? is everything okay???
there's something I want to discuss with you, but I think over text might be inappropriate. are you free today or anytime soon?
( perfect, wherever takumi seemed to be [most likely with one of his lovers] he wouldn't be around to control the situation as he normally did. he had locked them both up in a sense, keeping them worlds apart but whether through anger or revenge, reira was going to cross that bridge to shatter his precious sense of control. )
[ why does this feel like the weirdest day of her life
once again, she lets this one marinate, nails clacking against the table, eyes never once leaving her phone screen.
she's given up, right, on the idea that takumi would — right? others, maybe, but the reira coffin is firmly hammered shut.
she takes a deep breath. it's unfair, the way that idea always yanks her, especially when reira has always been so kind to her. she's grown, now. a wife (practically)! she can't entertain her fancies like that anymore. ]
omg absolutely!
[ nana rereads the text before she follows up. see?! the way reira trusts her! to think she was so silly! ]
where do you think we should meet? i'll be sure to be as discreet as possible! ☆(>ᴗ•)
( there's a twinge of guilt in what reira was seeing. she had wanted to hurt takumi specifically through this endeavor and while she didn't particularly care about nana, she knew what she meant to shin. even if she wasn't with him anymore, she did still care about him.
in her own twisted and complex way, she loved shin too. she didn't love him as much as she had takumi, but the love she had for him was a haunting one, one that seemed to possess her far beyond the rational.
so she sighed heavily, the light of her phone almost threatening her as she ruminated on what to respond with. finally, she hit send. )
let's meet at the park.
( she sent the address of a park near her own apartment. somewhere public enough to protect reira in case things became violent, but private enough to prevent an outburst from drawing attention to them. )
[ and nana does, indeed, move quick, an almost-practiced sort of instinct taking over as she lightly makes herself up, pulls a pair of sunglasses, and wraps a scarf around her head.
before long, she's waiting diligently at the park as promised, tucked primly onto a bench shaded by a secluded bunch of trees. she tries not to draw attention or engage anyone passing by, but her head pops up intermittently, looking for reira coming down the pathway. ]
( reira on the other hand takes her time to come to the park. she's nervous and finally forced to confront her issues and numerous flaws. was she really going to do this? tell hachiko that years of adoration and obsession over takumi led to him finally sleeping with her? would she even understand the hold he had over her? over the both of them? because while reira has known him for her entire life, his abuse and domination was never relegated to her. he just kept her captive in a way far removed from romance and sex.
finally she decided she needed to do this. for both their sakes. )
I...I appreciate you coming.
( she showed up in her own disguise; a pair of large sunglasses, a large black hat, and dressed head to toe in something janis joplin would have worn. )
[ even in a disguise, there's something striking about reira, otherworldliness made manifest in a way that nana's not fully sure how to handle. she rises on instinct when she sees that large hat coming. her hands fidget, and her anxiety is undeniable. she can't imagine what reira's trusting her with — but if it involves trapnest, it must be okay with takumi. even if nana is an "outsider," at least she has a chance to prove herself. ]
No, it wasn't! Thank you for suggesting it. I don't think anyone will disturb us here.
[ she shuffles the few steps back to the bench with reira, all smiles. ]
( her smile could penetrate the sun into the darkness of the sky. seeing this woman before her, happy and full of kindness for reira was heartbreaking. as she shuffled back, she sat down on the bench and held her head low.
she had come here with a destructive rage fueling her movements, but now she really did just want to tell nana so she knew the truth. not because she wanted to steal takumi from her-
truthfully the experience had been terrible. no, she deserved better. so she decided to start off with telling her about stella. )
I...I didn't want to be the one to share this with you. Your kindness...towards Shin especially made me realize you deserve better.

Takumi isn't the man you think he is.
